At Harden Pre-school and Springfield Club we work together to create a happy, fun, safe environment that allows everyone to be the best they can possibly be. Our main aim is to develop confidence, resilience, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.

We provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment with qualified and caring staff offering 40 Ofsted registered places within our pre-school and before and after school club.

We have good links with Harden Primary school and several feeder schools within the local area to maintain continuity for the children and their parents/carers in the next stage of their learning journey. We enjoy sharing children’s learning with their parents/carers.

We are a community based group who work in partnership with all our parents/carers and the local community.

We have an effective key person system that ensures we provide children with the support they need for their learning, development and personal care. This is in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculm. Children are supported to respect and value each other, and their behaviour is managed in a positive way.

Our outdoor area offers a fun and safe space for children to play, explore their physical skills, and become confident investigators. We also use the local area to enhance our learning.

About Us

Harden Pre-School and Springfield Club are situated in the heart of Harden Village and based in The Memorial Hall. We are a community pre-school and our Springfield Club offers a full wrap around service for both our pre-school and Harden primary school. We are a member of the Early Years Alliance and Out of School Alliance and we are a registered charity.

We are registered to receive Nursery Education Grants for all 3 and 4 year olds under the umbrella of the OFSTED Early Years Directorate. We also offer places to 2 year old children who are eligible for the Early Education For Two Year Olds Funding, subject to the criteria being met. We are inspected by OFSTED and must achieve national standards to continue to be registered to receive funding.

We were awarded the Ofsted rating of Outstanding in 2023.

Daily Routine

The children have "free-play" when they can choose their own activities or be guided if needed. We respect each individual child's right to choose to join in an activity or not. Each day there is a craft activity which is based around the topic or your child's interests. This is an opportunity for your child to explore a range of resources through sensory play. We also have a short circle time session which allows children to learn to take turns, discuss our rules at Pre-School, to sing and to share a story. During each session the children have outdoor play which is an extension of our indoor learning environment where we encourage the children to explore and experience a range of resources throughout the seasons.

We have fresh fruit, vegetables or a healthy snack with milk or water during each session. This is a time for the children to sit with a member of staff to enjoy a chat and their snack. Once or twice a week we bake with the children or do a more structured snack session which allows the children to cut their own fruit, build their own wraps or make their own porridge.

For further information on the daily routine please refer to the parent's notice board in the entrance hall or the Caterpillar room.
